Fraud Awareness
Phishing is when a scammer creates a message thru email, voice call,
or text message claiming to be from a reputable institution to get
PERSONAL INFORMATION.
What is Phishing?
It’s when a scammer creates a message (thru email, voice call,
or text message) pretending to be from a reputable institution
to get PERSONAL INFORMATION. Phishing usually tricks their
victims to click on a link, open an attachment or give personal
or card information.
In order to prevent being a victim of this modus, don’t open or
respond to emails, text or reply from unknown senders or callers
especially labeled as Spam Messages. Do not click online
advertisements, and pop-ups to avoid being redirected to unknown
websites. Always check if the website has a padlock icon on the
URL address.
Wrong grammar, suspicious fonts, and typo error could be a
strong indication that an email or message is a form of scam. If
you think an email, call or text is phishing, contact the
company’s customer service to make sure that the information
regarding the message is true.
